P.V Sindhu
About
Pusarla Venkata Sindhu, known as PV Sindhu, is the first Indian shuttler to reach the finals of an Olympics badminton event and the first Indian woman to win an Olympic silver medal.
With her parents being former volleyball players, it is only natural that sports had always been her calling and she started playing Badminton at the age of eight.
She is the youngest Indian to make a podium finish in an individual Olympic event.
She is one of the only two Indian badminton players to ever win an Olympic medal – the other being Saina Nehwal.

She received global attention when she broke into the top 20 of the BWF World Ranking (2012) at the age of 17, following which, in 2013 she became the first ever Indian ‘Women’s Singles’ player to win a medal at the Badminton World Championship.
She is the recipient of the ‘Padma Shri’ award, which is extremely commendable at her age.
Sindhu made it to the Forbes list of ‘Highest-Paid Female Athletes’ in 2018, 2019 and 2021.
She is a recipient of the sports honours ‘Arjuna Award’ and ‘Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna’.
